ABQ Trip

Met my niece...Karilynn...for the first time...

Visited the Albuquerque Temple, as is our custom...

Kade had to have a picture by his sign. The bushes have grown a lot, so we had to sneak around them to get a good shot. He thinks of this as his temple because they were both "born" the same year. :D

Kansas Weather

We spent the weekend in Albuquerque and returned home Monday...on the way home, we encountered some interesting weather patterns. (And, I'll apologize up front for the poor quality of some of these shots. I was actually driving in my car while I took these. And, judging from the proximity of those neat twisty clouds and knowing I had it zoomed all the way out... I was having some freaking out moments...) The tall white smears are windmills.

Looking out the window here we could all clearly define the rotation of the clouds. Having previously done some research via wikipediato put Kade's mind at ease concerning our severe occurances, I was fairly certain we were watching a tornado being born. And, as we raced past it pulling a trailer...I was worried for a while. I was unsure just how quickly these things progressed.

By the time we got this far from the rotating wall cloud a number of other people were pulling over to watch and I felt more safe than before.

Here you can see more clouds reaching down, but yet to rotate.

Just after this picture, we ran into the severe thunderstorm portion of the super cell. It rained from that point on. This particular development we safely outran, did touch down as a tornado just before 1730 CDT. It was quite an adventurous trip home.
